HEALTH & WELLNESS
Nurturing Your Well-Being Together
At Connections Peer Support, we know that health is about more than appointments and medications. It’s about finding everyday practices that help you feel balanced, supported, and confident.
Our Health & Wellness programs are shaped by peers who have walked their own recovery paths and understand the ups and downs that come with it. From cooking and movement to stress relief and long-term planning, these offerings are designed to give you practical tools, encouragement, and a community that truly cares.

COOKING, NUTRITION & SHARED MEALS
Food is an important part of recovery, and we make it a source of connection and care. Through our culinary workshops, members learn how to prepare simple, affordable, and nourishing meals. We explore how nutrition impacts mood, energy, and overall wellness. In addition, our weekly community lunch brings members together to share a meal prepared in partnership with local churches — a chance to eat well while strengthening community bonds.

MINDFUL MOVEMENT & STRESS RELIEF
Gentle exercise and relaxation practices can play a big role in managing stress and supporting emotional health. Our Stretch, Balance, and Strength sessions are designed for all ability levels, focusing on movement that builds mobility and confidence. We also offer groups in mindfulness, meditation, and self-compassion practices, giving members tools to navigate daily stress and promote calm.
TOOLS FOR MANAGING EMOTIONAL CHALLENGES
Life can bring difficult emotions like anger, anxiety, or seasonal depression that feel heavy to carry alone. Our peer-led support groups create a safe, welcoming place to share experiences and explore strategies that really help. Together, we talk about triggers, coping skills, and ways to find relief, so no one has to go through it in isolation.
BUILDING LONG-TERM WELLNESS PLANS
Caring for ourselves starts with intention and small, steady steps. At Connections Peer Support, members can explore personal wellness planning and receive peer coaching around fitness, nutrition, mindfulness, and overall well-being. Through shared accountability and encouragement, we help one another create realistic goals that fit real life, because sustainable wellness grows best in community.

RECOVERY FROM TOBACCO USE
Quitting smoking is one of the most powerful steps someone can take for their health, but it can also be one of the hardest. Offered annually during the Great American Smokeout in November, our Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) for Smoking Cessation offers peer-led support for anyone ready to make this change. Together, we explore practical strategies, share encouragement, and celebrate progress in a group that understands how challenging the process can be.
THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALTH & WELLNESS
Health and recovery go hand in hand. At Connections Peer Support, our programs are not about prescriptions or pressure — they are about choice, support, and community. Whether you’re learning to cook, practicing mindfulness, or building a long-term plan for wellness, you’ll find peers who walk beside you, not ahead of you.
